Repeal of HealthCare Reform

HealthCare ReformWith the full implementation of HealthCare Reform or Obama Care becoming a greater reality each day, Likely voters still favor repeal.  Even the A.M.A. is holding a vote to consider withdrawing it’s support for the Health Care Reform Law according to http://americasmedicalsociety.com/ .  This is in direct contrast to an article written on 7/22/09 which affirms it’s support for Health Care Reform. Another article posted 6/20/2011 states AMA Loses 12,000 members.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 53% of likely voters favor repeal while 42% are against it.  Some interesting numbers backup this lack of support for Obama Care. Read the rest of this entry »

Healthcare.gov is released

Americans now have a new way to compare health insurance plans. The Obama administration unveiled Healthcare.gov on Thursday, saying it will “help take some of the mystery out of shopping for health insurance.”  The new website can be found here.

Goverment Plans for Pre-existing Condtions

A new insurance plan is available for uninsured people with pre-existing health conditions. The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan – also known as the “federal high-risk pool” – is expected to cover as many as 350,000 individuals.

U.S. citizens or legal residents are eligible if they have been uninsured for at least six months and if a private health insurance company has denied them coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

Understanding Healthcare Costs

Anthem has recently published a very informative brochure on the rising cost of insurance premiums and how they relate directly with the cost of health care.  According to data compiled from Fortune magazine’s “Fortune 500 annual Ranking of America’s Largest Corporations,” 2008, The health care industry average profit margin was only 2.2% compared with the Pharmaceuticals industry average of 19.3% and medical products and equipment averaged 16.3%.
